 Sagrada Familia Barcelona

Do cities and other parts of the world, their history, people and buildings interest you?  If so, then join Christopher Legrand, who has put together a series of fully illustrated talks on some of those he has visited.  

Christopher has delivered lectures and presentations for many years and is an accomplished speaker and a ‘Destination Speaker’ on cruise ships.  He has personally photographed most of the locations included in his talks.

 List of talks

 ‘The sights and sounds of New Zealand ’. An illustrated trip around some of the cities and the magical scenery and of both North and South Islands including glimpses of Sydney, Australia, Rarotonga in the Cook Islands and Singapore.  

'The Greek Islands and Ephesus'. In this presentation Christopher visits the islands of Mykonos, Santorini, Kos, and Rhodes as well as taking his audience around the historic remains of Epesus in Turkey.

 ‘Christopher’s Paris’ examines some of iconic places and structures, as well as lesser known buildings, of this fashionable French capital. The presentation also follows the work of Georges-Eugène Hausmann who was commissioned by Napoleon the Third to instigate the planning reforms for the city, many of which influence its unique character.

 ‘A little night music’ . This magical tour takes you through the streets of Vienna, Austria, the home of waltz music and many of the world’s great composers, and looks at the history and modern practices of this famous city and its beautiful Baroque architecture.

 ‘The man who broke the bank at Monte Carlo’.  A fascinating insight into some of the exciting towns and cities fronting the Mediterranean Sea, including  visits to the Principality of Monaco, Gibraltar and a look at the history of Napoleon Bonaparte, who was  born in Ajaccio, Corsica.

 The legacy of Antoni Gaudi’. Gaudi’s masterpiece, the ‘Sagrada Familia’ (Church of the Sacred Family) will take till 2026 to finish. This illustrated presentation looks at the magnificent building and many of Gaudi’s other works in Barcelona and Palma as well as touring these two vibrant cities.

 The Splendour of Lisbon’. This presentation starts at the medieval Belem Tower and follows some of the history of the capital of Portugal, visits many of the important buildings and looks inside the famous Jeronimous Monastery as well as visiting the busy city of Vigo in Spain.
